2/27/12

Tonight, I was reading some friends' blogs, and I remembered I have my own.  I know I haven't posted in a LONG time, but I thought, hey, why not?  So, what I think I'm going to do is try to write the positive things from my days so that I (and others, hopefully) will get a little joy or encouragement or whatever from my posts.  Here are some great things from today:

1. I Skyped for the first time.  I know this is old hat for many of you.  But I had never tried it, and I talked with Chisum all the way from his hotel room in Lubbock.  It was amazing to be able to see him right here in front of me and catch up with each other about our day.  It's not the same as being on the phone either; you MUST be paying attention the whole time because your partner can SEE you!  (This, as Chisum will tell you, is important because I tend to get distracted very easily on the telephone.  That's why I don't call people often...)  But it's also wonderful because you can see reactions instead of just hearing them, and I love to see my husband smile.  So Skyping was a success!

2.  Rivers told me today that she "fell down" "earlier" in the "parking lot."  There were some questions in that conversation from me, as I was trying to get clarification from her mainly because we were not in a parking lot today in which she fell down.  This is what I can gather from her comments.  Last Wednesday after Mass, we went to the post office.  On the way back to the car, she did fall down and skin her knees.  I put Spiderman band-aids on both of her knees.  (You can actually see them in the Hulk Smash video on my facebook.)  Anyway, for a couple of days after that, she had been asking for band-aids.  (We have Marvel Heroes in the medicine cabinet.)  I thought she was done asking for them, but apparently she was just taking a different tack.  Instead of just telling me she wanted Hulk or Spiderman as she had previously done, she concocted a story to get me to remember how her little knees were hurt so I would let her have her band-aids.  Smart kid.  Weird, but smart.

3.  Tonight, after our Bible story and prayers, I was sitting with Rivers in my lap in the rocking chair.  She came up with a game.  It went like this:  Rivers took a drink of milk and then offered me some.  I said, "No, thank you, I don't want any."  Rivers laughed hysterically.  And we did this for at least 5 minutes.  She was so tickled about me saying no that her laughing made me laugh, and by the end, we were both giggling uncontrollably.

I don't often enough remember these parts of my day, and I would be good to start doing so.  That's why I'm writing.  I hope I can do more.
